1990 Celica GT Front Calipers

I put front brakes on my Celica today and purchased rebuilt calipers from NAPA. The original calipers on the car had a casting number 57-22 on both of them. The rebuilt casting numbers were 57-25. They included the mounting brackets with the caliper. I had to use the mounting brackets from the original calipers because the supplied ones were slightly wider to acommodate a wider rotor I presume. I called NAPA and they insisted these were the correct calipers. They checked with another NAPA dealer and they verified that I had the correct calipers by checking another one on the shelf. My question is why are the casting numbers different and the mounting brackets wider? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Well I looked around napa's site

judging by the pictures the left side is the 57-25 casting number but the rights have the 57-22 number

as for the difference in bracket, that would be a first for me, and I work in a parts store.

Both the left and the right have a casting number 57-22 on the original calipers.

hmmm, I've seen discrepancies between cast numbers, but the difference in the bracket still concerns me a little. Any differences in the piston? bleeder vavle? hole for the brake hose?

The caliper was configured as the other but had some different casting marks. Whether the piston is identical to the original on the car I can't say for sure.

It sounds as if the caliper system is not releasing hydraulic pressure when you let off of the pedal. You need to check the clearance of the master cylinder push rod. It is difficult to do without a special tool but here is the gist of it.for further help see a mechanic.
