Question 1.6l engine really that bad?

I found a '93 Celica St for sale, but on this site all i see is people downtalking the 1.6l. Is it really that bad? Are there no possible mods for it? In my area, the 90-93 celicas are a rare find, and i love that body style, i just dont want to waste my time getting a car with an engine that is not moddable. Thanks in advance.

Dang, so NO mods what-so-ever. To make it to at least 130hp or more? If i ended up getting it, i wouldnt be able to do a motor swap anytime soon.

dude if you dont really care about going anykind of quick then its not a bad car...becuz the 2.2 is not even quick and it has 30 more horses...but i would say its not really worth putting engine mods into...i mean you could still have an exhuast system and put like a custom intake and it will look and sound nice with some rims and a sound system...but you prolly wont ever be fast

I'll see your 4AGZE and instead of your SC12 I'll raise you a T3/T4 + FMIC.
