4AGE swap into 91 celica STX

Im dropping a 4age into my 91 celica stx the car is a factory automatic with the 4afe 1.6 engine. I recently purchased a silvertop engine along with the matching automatic transaxel. here is whats got me scratching my head, the driveshafts from my 91 celica will not fit into the JDM automatic transaxel my shafts seem to be bigger in diamiter .I also counted the splines on my shaft and that number is 20. I talked to some one at Phonix Tuning a couple days ago and he said that the drive shafts for a 93 corolla should work. But when i looked up that shaft i found that it also fits a 91 celica st with the 1.6. Can any one tell me to i either have a odd ball transaxel that came with my silvertop or is my 91 celicaa oddball ? I really need to find somthing out soon my harness will be done soon and i have no axels to test drive my new swap . I also need a coil and igniter can any one tell me where i can get these items or possibly the part # for them? TYA

I can't help you, but keep the swap info up to date. I'm been considering doing a 4age on my Celica myself as they're cheaper and I wouldn't feel like having to upgrade as much to handle a larger power bump.

Hi this is where im at now . I did find out my problem with the drive shafts my 91 Celica STX with the stock 4AFE engine has a tranny that takes a 20 spline inboard shaft. The JDM silvertop 4AGE has a tranny that takes a 23 spline shaft . The shafts I need I found on Ebay (GEO PRIZM 1993-2002, TOYOTA CELICA ST (M/T), 1990-1993,TOYOTA COROLLA, 1993-2002) they are $70.00 a piece. I sent my wiring harness to DR Tweak that fee is $490.00 includes shiiping and insurance. I also found a after market header and down pipe combo for $190.00 . I didnt need to buy the header I could have had a exhaust shop make me a down pipe to match the factory header . I also found a coil and igniter for $ 50.00. I think i will also need a map sensor i should be able to find one of these for 20 to 30 bucks on Ebay. I paid $810.00 for the engine and tranny that includes shipping. So now im around $1700.00 and that should about cover it. If i was to do it agin i would buy a front clip. even with that i still would have the cost of having my wire harness made plug and play. I really need to learn how to make these harness's. would have saved me $500.00. Im still waiting on the harness. I will keep this thread updated with the swap and i will also get some pics.

Awesome! A few questions: Where did you get your engine and how many miles did it supposedly have? Most of the silver tops I'm finding are going for about or more what you said BEFORE shipping. Did you get a transmission too? I would be converting from Automatic to manual. Also, would you know where to find front clips? I've looked around and can't seem to find any.

www.jdmenginedepot.com this place s on the east coast and is where i bought my engine and transmission it came as a pair along with ecu and wiring harness. The mileage was guaranteed under 55k. i did a good compression check on it as soon as i git it unwrapped and it was pretty good all 4 cylinders was right about 185 psi on a cold test. just type (jdm front clip)in google you should have many many options. Ireally wanted to go with the manual conversion as well but now my girl can drive the car as well.
