Question about 3S-GTE?

The other day i thought i read that a specific model year carried the 3S-GTE engine stock from the factory in the celica that was for sale in the USA. Is this true and if it is what years did the celica come with the 3S-GTE engine? thanks

They're pretty rare, when they were new they approx the price of a Corvette. Finding a clean one, that hasn't been beaten is gonna be expensive.

they are rare but they arent that expensive. in decent condition with about 50-80k miles on it is only around 9 or 10 grand, u wont be able to find one anywhere on the east coast tho so shipping is gunna kill you. if i were someone looking to invest i would find a GTS in good condition and do the swap. the engines arent rare at all and most of the time they are JDM so they have more available hp (235 JDM vs. 200 USDM). only sacrafice your making is the fwd GTS versus the AWD GT4. the swap is easy enough to do in fact, all things bolt right up to the chassis.
