what kind of HID should i get?

hello...
i have a 7th gen celica...
and i have shopping around, cuz i wanted to get 8K HID for my car
but i ran into this guy, and he said that he suggested 5K for my car.
because of the projector lights that come with it.
i have the stock headlights.
he said that with the 8K it wouldnt shine out blue, it would be a pinkish color
and that a 5K would be so much better and more visibility.
but i didnt believe one word he said..

i want to ask you guys...what do you guys think is the best fit for my car.

-thanks

If the projectors were not designed for an arc-discharge lamp, do not install an arc-discharge lamp (essentially, do not install HID kits). It will mess up the beam pattern and you cannot accomodate for it by reaiming.

The only road-legal HID wattage is nominal 35; color temp should be nominal 4100-4250K.

8000K would be particularly horrendous: It creates irritation glare but does not improve seeing.

A better investment is installing a set of relays, and getting the best H7 bulb you can get for the low beam. For stock wattages (especially if you DON'T install relays), get the Osram Nightbreaker +90 or the Philips X-Treme Power. If you do install relays, you should be good for these Osram Rallye 65W bulbs.

If your vehicle uses 9006 bulbs for the low beams, then the HIR9012s will fit (with a base modification).

If you have a 2004 or 2005 Celica GT-S, then it already has HIDs (using the D2S capsules). Stick with the stock wattage and color temperature, and make sure they are aimed properly.

I'd send Daniel Stern a mail. The link to it is at the bottom of the "relays" page I showed earlier.

It may "look good", but it could be dangerous for other drivers or yourself. HID kits are rather like those giant wings or fake cellular antennas you see on the backs of cars. They "look good" to some people, but to others they look ridiculous, and they do nothing helpful anyway.

The difference should be noticeable to you and others-- but with the lights aimed properly and the lenses clear, it won't be glaring.

Remember, ultimately headlights shouldn't be a "style" accessory. They need to work properly. A high color temperature and glaring beam pattern might "look cool", but to all the wrong people.

check out the 7th gen celica forums for specifics but putting hid in non hid housings will cause bad streaks and dark spots. you need to get the OEM hid housings to get proper even lighting.
