7afe build and turbo

New project...Looking to rebuild the 7afe instead of swapping the head for a 4agze...im thinking it will be cheaper.

But i was looking for suggestions for the camshaft, crank, rods, etc.
or if there is a quality kit somewhere out there.

And then would i need a tranny swap?
also is a t3/t4 turbo sufficent.
any sites to research on would be awseome

Toyota master rebuild kits are the best (and they have a price to go along with it), although not so much if you're looking to turbo your engine. I've seen some good forged 7A rods out in the depths of the internet before, but they were very expensive and I wouldn't know where to find them now. On top of those you'll need low compression pistons, which are fairly easy to find. The major weakness in this setup would be the 7A's iffy (when boosted) crankshaft, which, to my knowledge, is not sold in a stronger version.

Good choice with sticking with the stock engine, hybrid engines are always a pain. If you want, you could just swap in a 4AGZE, it's strong enough to handle ~300 hp on stock internals and it would be less of a headache building it up.

the 7A crank is pretty stout, I can't say I've heard of one breaking...rods on the other hand are the weak link and then the pistons.

As far as valves go, you're mostly looking at some porting and polishing at a machine shop, there's not much more available for the 7AFE head that I know about.

I've mostly heard it wasn't that great, but it's usually just been an obscure comment found through a google search... I'll have to look into that again, it's been a while.

The C56 is the factory manual transaxle for this generation, which is pretty easy to find. I can't say how well that would hold up to boost. As for a clutch, a stage 2 fits your description.

Also, yes, the strut bar will fit.

For 7A-FE rods, "Spool" in Australia makes them. I think the price was about $500AU when I checked into it.

There are guys in Jamaica running stock 7A-FE bottom ends with boost and others with 4A-GE heads that claim 8000 RPM constantly with no failures.

I put a 7A-FE in my Corolla GT-S after the 4A-GE crank broke. More bottom end torque, same peak HP.
