1991 Toyota Celica Rack and Pinion

How difficult is the Rack and Pinion to change in a 1991 Toyota Celica ST (Automatic Transmission). I am a Jeep guy that has been approached by a friend to change this in her car. I have re-built nearly everything on my Jeep and am comfortable changing axles, engines, differentials, transfer cases, suspensions, ect on a Jeep, but do not have a lot of experience with Toyotas.

Is this something a resonably skilled shadetree mechanic can tackle without a lot special tools? Does the engine need to be removed or simply supported? Any guidance would be great.

I did the rack and pinion on my 91 Celica GT-S manual and it was fairly easy. You just have to support the engine because you remove one of the motor mounts but that's about all that is in the way except the tires.
