How do I disable seat belt interlock system on my '74 Celica ST?

All 1974 Toyota passenger cars sold in the USA have a seat belt interlock system that won't let the driver start the engine unless he/she is sitting in his seat with the seat belt buckled up.

What can I do to disable this system so that I can start the motor even if not sitting in the seat with the seat belt buckled up? Besides being a nuisance, the system drains the car's battery if I don't drive the car for several days. Thanks.

should be a set of wires running from the buckle. cut them. not sure if you will need to leave them disconnected or will need to splice the ends together.

Not sure, but some models have a connector under the seat that you can just unclip.
Worth a look see.
