A couple of questions on JDM celica 3sgte

I have a couple of questions regarding the JDM Celica motor...I recently swapped out my US Spec 3sgte out of my Mr2 and put in a JDM Celica 3sgte. There were a couple of differences, mainly the water necks and vacuum placements but all in all I think everything worked out o.k. But I do have a couple of questions though...

What ECU works best on JDM motors, I am using the stock US 3sgte ecu and I know there is a big difference in US and JDM so would it be worth it to find a JDM Mr2 ECU or is there a ECU upgrade out there that is a good investment?

Next I want to install a Oil pressure gauge, where should I tap into to have proper pressure readings? If so what should be the proper pressure?

Also on my US spec motor I put about 4 and a half quarts of oil in it and it filled up to the top line on the dip stick...well on this motor I put the same amount and it seems to be too much??? Dont have a clue, I know the dipstick isnt bent or anything...how much do you guys put in?

Lastly I have a slight oil leak somewhere around the distributor???? Any heads up on seals or gaskets that go out very easily?

Thanks for any help LIL Ray

1.- JDM ECU is more agressively tuned than the USDM thus giving you more power, problem is that the JDM one is designed for 105 octane gas in mind wich you wont find in the US so you will get a lot of detonation.

2.- It would depend of the type of gauge you are installing. If its an electrical one just wire it into the sensor valve on the engine; if its a mechanical one the you will have to tap into one of the oil lines with a copper tube... a lot more mess if you dont do it right.

3.- No clue

4.- The gasket that celica kid mentions just seals the distribuitor against water and moisture that gets into the engine bay when you drive through a puddle, but you have both the rubber gasket ripped AND the oil seal broken. You will have to remove the whole distribuitor assembly to change the former

Side of the cilinder head, right hand side, close to the water pump outlet (where all the sensors sit)

in my experience the JDM ECU makes the engine run a lot smoother, we did the same swap in a 94 MR2, and it ran kind rough with the USDM ECU, when we swapped the ecu it solved a lot of the little problems we were having,

As above, the oil leak could be the o-ring on the dizzy, or the valve cover on that side of the engine, it leaks down and around the cap, making it look like the cap.

about the JDM ECU, i know for a fact that the JDM ECU's have only one wire going in for the O2 sensor. you can try it out but i'm pretty sure that some of the wires are not the same. i have a JDM swap and things like the o2 or egr dont match up.
