Hello. I am brand new to the Forums and appreciate everyone's help.
I purchased a 2000 Toyota Celica GT about 2 months ago. It has failed Delaware state inspection 3 times now. The first two times because it needed emissions work. I didn't know it needed work because it ran fine and the Check Engine Light was not illuminating. The Celica failed the other day because the Check Engine Light would not illuminate.
I cannot find the check engine light anywhere. I do not know where it is supposed to be. I do not have an owners manual. My mechanic took off the dash cluster and we inspected it 5 thousand times......every other warning light was visiable except the check engine light. Maybe it is digital?
I took the Celica to Toyota and they said they have no idea what is up and want to charge me $150 just to take the dash off. As stated, I already did that....no help.
My last two options are: 1) I am going to an automobile electronics expert who does alot of work on digital dash boards (the tach and speedometer are not digital, but the gas and temp gauge, and mileage reading is digital). 2) I am thinking of buying a brand new dash cluster but this is not cheap.
I have 14 days to get the car to show a check engine light or my car cannot be inspected in this state.
Any help you can provide me would be great. I am most curious.....WHERE THE HECK SHOULD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BE???
THANKS!!!!
