2001 Stalling randomly, must be electrical

My fiance has a 2001 GT with 132K miles on it. She is having problems with it stalling at random times. It runs fine 98% of the time, but at random times and usually when she is stopped at a light it will stall when she goes to press the gas. She had it stall completely and shut the car off once and had to restart the car. After that one everything in her car reset electrically. I know it must be an electrical problem, but as many of you know it could be as simple as a ground wire. Does anyone have any insight for me? Thanks.

could be a bad or loose connection at the battery. check those first, for tightness and corrosion and make sure the battery hold down is installed.

I checked the battery a week or so ago when I replaced the plugs and had to clean it up a lot because of the corrosion. I think we need to replace it anyways even if it might not be the problem because the connections have pretty much welded to the battery terminals. Could it be that simple?
