1990 Celica blower motor replacement

The blower does not blow, started making noise then was intermittent then it gave up. Is changing it out something I can do without a manual? Do I need to get dealer parts or will aftermarket work? This heat with no A/C is a bad deal. Thanks for any help.

your most likely going to need a manual to get it out. the cheap one from autozone will help out alot since you are going to be ripping out most of your dash just to get to the blower motor. its a pain to get to. not sure if an aftermarket will work but i'm sure you can pick up a oem one cheap online. just look around for the best price.

On a 5th Gen Celica? No, you don't need to take any aspect of the dash out. I've replaced a blower motor before, it's one of the easier things to do on a 5th Gen Celica.

The below motor is up behind the glove box. You can see it by looking up underneath. 3 screws hold it in place, and one is a bit difficult to remove unless you have a swivel end screw driver or nut driver. One wiring harness to remove.

In all honesty, these motors rarely fail. You can get one from a salvage yard and your odds of it working would be pretty good.

So is there a trick to get the glove box out? The manual says "Take it out" I would hate to have to buy one of those too. Thanks!

there are only 4 screws if i remember correctly. just open it and two will be at the top lip. then close it and 1 will be on the far left and the other is behind the small trim piece in the door jam. then open it up again after the screws are out and give it a tug will pop out. then unhooked the light and the wire going to the speaker. the blower is right behind it

I got it out and I didn't break a thing!! It runs but real slow and it had what I'd call a flat spot in the bearing. When I turned it on it's side it spooled up to high speed low drag. We have several wrecking yards I will try tomorrow. Thanks for all your help, it saved some coin we can't afford to spend right now. Eddie
