Its probably illegal to have no bumper and without one, next time you'll be smashing the nose and hood up. you could make a tube bumper to atleast protect the front some.

im not too worried about ruining the front of the car again, i tested the turning capabilities to the extreme MAX!! it looks too shitty with the bumper the way it is! id like to throw an older 70s front end on it again later, but for now i just want the bent up corner out of the way of my lights!

Hi Ross,

Unbolting the bumper is quite simple.
There is a small bolt holding the bumper to each side panel - this doesn't hold much weight.
And there are some big bolts holding the bumper brackets to the chassis rails at the front.
You can see these from inside the engine bay (from above or from below), two on each rail, just behind the radiator.
under the small side bolts and the bog chassis rail, then slide the whole bumper forward.

It is not practical to put in the 70's style smiley bumpers.
It's not even practical to put in the 1977-1979 chrome bumpers on your 1981 model.
A straight replacement from a 1980-1981 Celica is called for.
You might find a spare from the guys at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/classic-celica/

thanks for the help! the person i bought the car from already did the '79 front clip conversion, the circle lights look soo much better! so i figured might as well go with an older style that i like more since i need a few new parts anyway haha.. people seem to lead me away from that, but it looks like it would bolt right up.
