ball joint, tirod stuff?

i need to separate the ball joint from my spindel. yet thse freeking 17mm bolt spints with the joint. and theres no way to get any sortof key on the ball joint itself. so that one is stumping me? (note i plan to reuse the ball joint so i need to keep it intact)

second.

i need to replace the tierod asembly, i bent the rod, and the end has lost all its gooo. so i go to take a look at how i might do this and it looks as tho i need to pull back the dust boot from the inside, and see whats hiding in there.

tips - advice, stuff like that is welcome.

balljoint-its easy if you got the spindle off the car and in a vise, other wise the axle shaft needs to be out, tie rod connected and steering locked. 4' pry bar, BFH and a impact socket, lots of rust penetrator and leverage. Get Dana ba;; joints and tie rods, better than the Moog replacments. Get yourself a BGB.
