76 Celica Liftback GT

I'm working on a old Celica that has been setting for a quite a few years but I've replaced the battery and got the engine turning over and it will fire when gas is poured into the carb. I had to remove the fuel tank to wash out the old gas. When I turn on the switch there is no voltage to the plug that goes to the fuel pump. While the switch is on if I unplug the fuel pump relay and plug it back in it does make the clicking sound like its working.....I assume it works the same way a stand-alone solenoid works. I don't know if there are any fuses or other connectors that could have come unplugged in the same circuit that send 12v from the relay to the fuel pump. Any suggestions is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Strange, I answered this a few days ago but the answer disappeared.
I will try again.

Sounds like the fuel pump relay is working okay,

Could be one of:
- the wiring between the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay,
- the fuel pump ground connection to the bidy (often gets rusty, which blocks electricity),
- the fuel pump itself is dead (very rare)
- the filter in the tank is blocked.

Run some wire from the battery to the fuel pump (bypassing the relay).
If it works then it is a bad wire or connection from the relay.

Clean the ground connection.

Remove the in-tank filter and clean.
I can step you through disassembling the rear cargo decking and removing the filter

Do you have a circuit diagram?

Thanks I have already bought a new fuel pump motor and I bypassed the solenoid and got the pump working. I was wondering if there was a fuel cut-off switch made inside the carburetor that would cut off the fuel when the fuel pressure builds up to a certain point? If so I think its possible that switch may be hung causing the fuel pump not to work. Thanks
