Replaced the clutch, it was toasted with 2 of 4 dampner springs fragged causing it to not release. While the trans was out I replaced the axle seals and the input shaft seal. 1 inner and 1 outer CV boot (different sides)
THEN I got busy......
As long as the clutch was out, I replaced the rear main seal and seeing all the other oil leaks up close, I decided to tackle them ALL
Crank seal
cam seals
oil pump seal
distributor shaft seal
valve covers
And since I was already on that side of the engine and everything was out of the way, I replaced the.......
water pump
thermostat
timing belt
And just because, I threw on a new fuel filter
Thank goodness the Toy dealer takes pity on poor instructors by giving a 30% discount
No more leaks, PERIOD
I need to go have a beer now, I'm tired

LOL, I've been a mechanic for 20 yrs and although I've slowed down plenty, I still managed to get it all done in 8 hrs. With a few less beers and skipping the post lunch nap, I suppose I could have done it in 6hrs flat
Hindsight being 20/20, I should have yanked the engine out and done alll the work on the stand instead of beating myself to death working up against the inside fender well.
BTW, it helps to have a lift and air tools

Ha I just took off the crank pulley and it took like 20 minutes. Damn pulley puller...it was my first time! I don't mind working slow as long as the job gets done right.

Yeah, I've heard about the new campus. One of the recruiters, sorry, can't remember what his name was, came and talked with my auto class a couple of months ago. I have a couple of friends that go their as well. (Again, can't remember what phase most of them are in, but I think my buddy Henry is still in ‘Hot-Rod-U’.) (He was there when the cars got stolen.) I'm thinking about going, but I'm not sure what I want to do with my life yet, heh. You should come and join us Toyota-fanatics out at the Scottsdale Pavillions one of these weekends. 101 & Indian Bend. We have lots of different Toyota owners come down. It seems that now the MR2 scene is starting to dominate since we plan to start an ‘AZ MR2 Club.’ Regardless, I’m sure you could have some great conversations with Austin and Sean; some of our older Toyota dudes, Austin has got a bunch of Toyotas, and a Celica AllTrac that’s almost running… and has built/rebuilt LOTS OF AWESOME Toyota engines. Oh yeah… “Hey! Welcome to the boards!”
