4th Generation Louvers, Toyota Celica, 4th Gen???

Has anyone in all their years of life ever seen a Louver on a 4th Gen Toyota Celica? For those of you that don't know what it is, it looks like this:

It's the black paneling on the rear window.

Most Celicas or Celica Supra's have these louvers installed, but not once have I seen it on a 4th Gen. I have no idea why Toyota just ceased louver installations on this Gen. I'm sure if done right it will look right at home on the 4th Gen.

I went to the Junkyard a few weeks back and saw a 4th Gen with what looks like to be Louver insertions and screws and all that jazz. I don't have these fairly large screws in my rear window, and I don't see a reason why'd they'd standout on the rear window of that junkyard Celica, except for installing something...a louver I'm guessing. Someone out there is a lucky guy, +$200.00 for Louvers online.

Nope, now that you mention it I realize I have not seen it before. Strange that they just quit making them for the 4th gen. IIRC didn't Nissan still put them on their sporty cars (IE 300SX) during the same years?

Yeah, I just looked it up on google. 1984-1989 300zx Nissans have 'em. So does a murcielago and even a Toyota Prius.

One of my old Mitsubishi Cordias used to have one of those (practically the same shape as the Celica you posted a pic of). They even make them for 93-97 Corollas, lol. They look good on some cars but horrible on others. Very notorious for cutting your fingers open when trying to clean the rear window too

ha, that's probably very true, it's a big cheese grater. Although, I've yet to see one on a 4th GEN. And I want! Louvers are an 80's thing and so should it be on my 4th gen lol. Btw, they even have louvers for a 91 camry, that's one example of a bad choice on louvers.

I've never seen one, but a little searching around netted this:

http://spoilers4less.com/wp10715.html

A 4th gen is on my list for possibly my next car, I would like to have louvers for it.

I've seen that site. I don't know, 239.00 usd with 3M sdhesive tape installation? lol.
Although if I had some nice cash, I'd buy and take a look at it and test fit it on the car. Even if the 3M tape is not sufficient, if the Louver is metal, aluminum or something I'd fashion some mounts to fit it in.

From what I've seen the 3m tape has actually surprised me. When I bought my celica the strip that runs down the side had fallen off. I replaced it and just used the 3m mouning tape, I've tried with my but I cant rip it off. But then again for louvers I'd probably fashion at least some sort of backup.

I know this is an old thread, but I had a set on an '87 GT I had. Wished I had taken them with me when I sold it. www.sfxperformance.com sells aluminum and ABS plastic ones for 4th generation Celica's. Haven't ordered one yet ($300), but will order some soon.

I've seen a couple 4th gens with louvers since then. But the louvers that Emacha bought from sfxperformance are a bit more round, which matches the lines of the 4th gen more. I'm curious to see how it will look

Your picture doesn't work by the way lol
