Unhappy Help with CV Shaft

Hello,
My name is Jayson and I am new to the forum. I have tried to install new cv shafts on my 92 Celica Gt and I am having issues with the left side. I was albe to remove the old shaft, but when I installed the new one it looks like the c ring on the end of the shaft got caught on something in the transmission. I cannot push it any further into the transmission. any suggestions?

Sounds silly but make sure its absolutely straight in. Give it a little tap(covering the end with a block of wood) and it should pop right in. if it doesn't go it, the splines may not be correctly aligned, twist it around a bit and try again.

You need to turn the C ring so that the open end of the ring is hanging down at the 6 O Clock position, This puts to top of the C ring at the top and down in the grove in the shaft thus allowing the open end of the C ring to collapse and let the splines move into the differential.

Thanks for the info. I will try on Sun and see what happens. Spending 8 hours last week replacing both sides and not getting it completed is a little frustrating.

What CWH5 said about the C clip is important. Also, if you still have trouble, make sure the axle is straight as possible, even if you have to have someone else help you hold it. You can tap it in with a block of wood and a soft mallet if it doesn't push in easily.
