3rd gear pop out of gear and back into neutral!

hi everybody i have a celica '94 and since today the 3rd gear pop out of gear and back into neutral when i shift smoothly (normally..like all other.) but when i shift the 3rd gear faster and harder, everything work without any problem!

anyone can help me?

Most likely a worn shift fork in the trans. They can wear on the shaft that they ride on and also on the face of the fork - creating extra tolerances and eventually letting the trans slip out of gear. Worn bearings can also create this problem but that would likely be heard in the form of bearing noise in the trans.

Nothing to worry about really unless it gets worse.

ok thank you for your answer but if I continue to engage the third speed, is what I could aggravate the situation? or would I be better to move from 2nd gear to the 4th speed? because the performance is greatly reduced!

Do you know how long it has been since the gear oil has been changed (and for a fact that it is full)???

I'd sure check it to be sure it is full. Some transmissions are sensitive to synchronize wear too... but in your case I don't know if that could cause your problem.

Hopefully somebody else will chime in here and enlighten us on that.

I recently changed a transmission seal because it ran a little but after having the oil changed (with full synthetic oil) transmission was still full of oil when I did that drain ... About transmission and bearing ... I started hearing a noise in neutral when the clutch pedal is released, I thought it was a clutch bearing, but perhaps that is the transmission bearing ... you know a way to know what bearing makes noise?
