gen 7 Stroking the 2ZZGE

Ok I really would like to add some lower end power to my 2000 GTS without adding a power adder and breaking the bank. I have read that a crank from the 1ZZFE can be used to stroke the motor and accomplish this goal but what rods and pistons do you use? Can you just use the stock rods and pistons? I'm not a racer and I really don't like the fact of having to rev to 7k to make power in these cars. I just bought this one with a rod knock and thought I'd look at my options since I gotta replace the crank anyway. I've been looking at a couple of pre-fabbed kits offered and that's just highway robbery. If I can't find an econical way to get the parts myself I'll just go back stock and add headers.

Thanks, Pete

That will not work.

Monkey wrench racing does sell a 1.93 liter stroker kit for the 2ZZ-GE, which raises peak power to over 220 HP. However, that will still not accomplish what you are looking for, which is low end torque since all of that power comes in very hard over 6000 rpm.

The car was built to rev high and produce power and torque up high in the rpm band. The bore and stroke was designed accordingly. With only 1.8 Liter displacement, low end torque is only as good as a 1ZZ-FE Celica or Corolla. It produces all its power up high in the rpm band when the user fully intends to go fast.

Therefore, if you want that "lazy power" and are willing to sacrifice the power, acceleration and speed under full throttle for "drivaibility" achieved through low-end torque where you can pick up fast from any gear at any speed, you are better off just selling it and buying a different car with much more low end torque.

Then will the 2ZZGE head fit any other Toyota block with the same bolt pattern?

Nope. Unlike Honda engines that are like Legos sharing 90% of the same stuff, 2ZZ-GE was purpose-built from the ground up without sharing any components from other engines (1ZZ-FE or other). The 2ZZ-GE head is not compatible with any other Toyota engine and it has never been done.
