Gen5 Alternator Question

Hey guys, got a question for you if you don't mind.

Trying to take the alternator out of the old sea hag. Disconnected the negative battery terminal. Disconnected the wiring harness, Unscrewed the stud holding the negative lead. Loosened the tensioner bolt. Unscrewed and removed the last bolt from the mounting bracket. The problem is the alternator still won't come off. It seems there is something connecting the alternator to the mounting bracket - a little washer type thingy or ring in the left side of the bracket (passenger's side). Do you know what I am talking about and how to finally get the alternator off of the mounting bracket?

I am looking at a new rebuilt Champion brand alternator from crappy tire for 200 dollars on special this week as opposed to getting a local guy who says he will charge me 60 dollars to "unsieze" my alternator if possible.

If you have the anchor bolt out, it should come out. The base of the Alternator is wedged in tight. You will have to pry it out with a small pry bar.

and when installing the new one, you may need to lightly (or not so lightly) file or sand paper the bracket or alternator to get it to slip into place without beating it into submission, helps also to smear a touch of anti-seize on the ear and make sure its good metal to metal contact between the bracket, block, and alternator.
