1uzfe swap into celica ?'s

ok i am looking into getting a 85 celica convertable. i am thinking about doing a 1uzfe in it, now i have some questions about it, if anyone can answer these questions ill really appreciate it.

1. do i need custom motor mounts etc for the engine to chassis? or can i use the stock ones?

2. i hear that you can mate the 1uzfe custom bell housing to a r150 trans, does that mean that i wont need a new driveshaft?

3. is there a manual 1uzfe? if not how would i go about by passing it for a 5speed swap on a 1uz.

4. where can i get a decent suspension setup for it from or at?(southern california is where im located at)

5. will the stock celica differential support the 1uz torque? or will i have to change that to a stronger diff?

6. if you have anymore information about the swap etc, please can you send it my way, as of links or pm's.

thank you i really do appreciate your time, and any information on the project swap will be helpful, atm i have prior information on it, just that itll be bad ass.

1. Mounts will be custom.

2. The custom bellhousings are from Castlemaine Rod Shop in Australia. Due to gearbox length differences, it is almost certain that you will need to change the drive shaft. I can't remember what the output of an R154 looks like. If it is different to the old W58 gearbox then you will need a yoke on the front of the drive shaft to match.

3. The 1UZ-FE was always automatic. See Castlemaine Rod Shop.

4. The alloy 1UZ-FE weighs similar to the old cast iron 22R. Just get some RA65 springs and dampers that suit your driving style (usually lower and stiff but that's your call).

5. The T series diff in the ST or GT will not survive but the F series diff in your RA65 convertible will be happy.

6. Mick's '77 Celica with 1UZ-FE is good.

My currently stalled project for a 1980 Carina 1UZ-FE is here.

ok that makes sense, i pretty much thought that the stock mounts wont work, because if it did everyone would have a 1uz in their ra65s. well so then the stock diff for the irs will hold up, just not the regular T diff style. ok ill do more research into, but yeah i found this bell housing on the web.

i might go with that i guess, any1 know of a shop that sells the mounts for hte 1uz to ra65?

well on the suspension, really all i just want is lower and stiffer. maybe like a simple short stroke strut with a 2' drop spring. i hear that the ae86 fronts will work, but my concern is the rear... i had chopped springs before and for me seriously its a no-no it makes the car look cooler but it drives like crap, looking kool isnt worth being smoked by a carb ohc civic with a welded on muffler.... <- not a fun moment, when u turn and ur car is jumping like crazy and the rear starts to slide for no reason and that like civic puut~puts around you....
