more bad news

alright so my dad was trying to put my camshafts back in the other day into my 5sfe and he dropped one of the bolts and he said it went down the oil drain... he tried using a magnet to get it out and was unsuccesful... i am going to drain my oil today and try taking off the oil pan...if its not in there then does that mean i have to take my head off again...?

that really does suck.
Correct me if I am wrong but, you can take off the oil pan.
Because when you jack your car up the bolt will be against the back of the pan.

Oil drain? Hopefully it did end up in the oil pan.

wtf? if you have coolant in the chambers, pulling the pan is gonna be messy.

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there water passages in your head to allow cooling? Just soak up any water and antifreeze out of the engine before reassembly. I have pulled many V-8 engines down and have always drained the coolant first.

so no ideas on what went wrong?? like i meant to say there was water in the two cylinders that were down...i know that is not normal.. i drained the coolant first but my car was jacked up..i dont know if that had anything to do with it but i know theres not supposed to be water or coolant in your cylinders...we are taking the head to a maching shop today to see if it is warped...maybe a bad headgasket?

if it was jacked up...it could have been from that. just a little leftovers runnin in the cyl. i could see that being a problem with these engines. check the block also. if you havent overheated the heck out of it though, you should be ok

I'd use compressed air and blow out all the coolant from there.. that's what I did when I took out my head from my 89 bonneville

honestly not much better...still idles to high and shakes at idle, but its not leaking oil....that is abuot the only good thing that really came out of it. i would say not worth the amount of money and work we put into it...very dissapointed.

Kid... i think its time you took a trip to the junk yard and started looking at 5s Bottem ends... and geting a good FE or GE head for it.. you need a new mottor/ECU in that car.. with all new electronics..just save you from what you got

well i figured my bottom end was ok since my compression was really good on all four cylinders. so i thought all my seals and stuff were good but i am not putting much else into this engine except maybe new injectors and just taking it to a toyota specialist so he can run it on a diagnostics and give me the heads up from there. i decided i think the 5sfe is a piece of crap engine....to bad cuz i really like the body style of the gts with the flared fenders and such. maybe an engine swap a few years down the road but its like whatever.....
