Transmission question

I have an 88 GT-S with the 5 speed trans that needs to be swapped. It has a bad speed gear, and a bent 2nd gear fork. I have another trans out and ready to install but would like to know if there is anything I can do to upgrade it while it is out of the car. Shift kit, anything that might make for a better trans. I would like to point out that I got this car specifically to race with, I will be doing road courses and dragracing if that helps.

Upgraded clutch will help..and be easier to install since you're swapping your tranny..
