89 celica gt help

My 89 celica gt motor (3s-fe) is on its last leg. I wanna rebuild it
but not stock but I can't find any Hi-Po parts for it . Any ideas out there that I can use? Also I don't mind changing engines like a twin cam 16v like what came out in the earier years.

what do you want to do with the car? and how much money are you willing to spend? those both need to be answered before you start planning engines, or anything else

Well the car is a daily driver w/ ice cold ac. I already have a project going ( 73 Gran Torino Sport 351C ) . So money is a factor . I know the 3sfe is a 2.0 and the 5sfe is a 2.2, so I figured more CI = more power. Turbo would be nice but alot of money. And by the way I install suspension techniques spring and 15x7 rims. If u have a better idea let know. And what about headers?

the 5s isnt going to yeild you the power for the hassle of a swap. if you want to swap, you have alot of options with the 3sge,3sgte, and hybrid 5sge, 5sgte.

shoot, im looking into rebuilding my 3sfe. i figure spending about 400 on parts. and i know some machine guys so about 200 there. im guessing with boring it over, and getting the head and block decked, that i can get maybe another 15-20 hp out of it. that is a pretty high estimate though.

the 3sfe is the only engine that will run off of your electronics. all the hybrid engines and ge or gte series engines will require a harness and ecu. they all would bolt up to your tranny...how long it lasts after that is up in the air.

if you are just looking for the cheap way out, just rebuild the engine and do some minor machining
