Question Cruise Control system on '86 Celica GT

Looking for some info on the cruise system for an '86 celica gt.

here's the scoop

origianlly dicovered that the neutral safety switch had been defeated as well as the clutch start switch (manual transaxle).

I repaired the switches and verified that they are working.

I thought that this may be the problem, but I still have no cruise control.

the switch for cruise comes on and the green light is lit, but I cannot set the speed.

This tells me there may be a problem with the computer or the actuator itself.

I have checked and rechecked all fuses to no avail.

I am thinking that it could be a problem releated to the switch on the steering wheel or in the control computer itself.

any help to troubleshoot this would be appreciated

thanks

my cruise control is working but I dont want it and took it off

probably a switch like u said check the vacumm lines also
could be the unit itself is bad

if your not good with wires let a good mechanic check it out first
and let you know whats wrong and how much to fix it if its to much
take that crap off like i did hate cruise control on sports cars

cruise controls

yep, sure enough.... it was the switch on the steering wheel. I went to the junk yard, and it took 6 of the switches before I found one that was actually good! (seems like a trend with that year of vehicle).

anyhow appreciate the input for the one person that bothered to reply. I did end up taking it out of the vehicle because it was nothing more than a pain in the butt, and besides it REALLY doesn't belong on a sports car.

Ciao
