'94 ST Acceleration Noise

The other day I test drove a '94 celica ST, 5-speed. Great car, i am recently being introduced to celicas and I love em. However I noticed this car seemed to have a kinda 'whirring'/whistling noise on acceleration. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Is it normal or something I should worry about? I know it's a vague description but its the best i can come up with, if you have any questions that can help make it more specific to figure it out, I will answer them as best I can. If it helps any, I noticed a similar noise on my '91 camry automatic.

I figured this might help describe it, it wasn't exactly the same as this but it kinda sounded like the noise you hear at the start of this video (not the 'tick' they posted the video for) but i think a slightly deeper tone to it and it wasn't constant, it seemed to come on with acceleration and wasn't heard when the car was just idling or at higher revs, just when I first took off from a stop.

Does it change depending on the level of throttle?

Also, inside the cabin can you isolate it to being one side over the other? Sometimes belts or pulleys can make a similar whine, what I think it is in the video, but to me sounds like noise from your intake.

When I test drove the car he told me the belts had been recently replaced, could new belts make that kinda noise?

I've heard it before, but really unless a belt is squealing or you can hear one of the bearings in one of the pulleys, its not really anything to be concerned over. Does it sound like its coming from that side of the engine? If its from the other side I would guess its more so just the suction sound into the intake

Would there still be that suction sound with a stock intake? The camry that i heard the same noise on was one I had put a short ram intake on.

Absolutely. On some cars its more apparent than others. I have my stock intake on my celica and when listening for it, I can it hear it over my exhaust. I would just double check all along the intake track to see if all the clamps are seated well and there are no leaks. Same would apply for along the vacuum lines, a vacuum leak can sound like that so just take a look, see if any vacuum lines are disconnected, broken or cracked.
