My 90 GTS 5SFE swap to a 99 Camry 5SFE; FYI
Just figured I would post some info on my swap for future user's. I bought a 1990 Celica GTS 5 speed with 5SFE with a locked down motor. I already had a wrecked 99 Camry with a 5SFE in it. My only concern was that the Camry was a distributor-less system and the Celica had a distributer. I figured at worse i would have to swap a cam or something over, but to my surprise that Camry cam had a spot for the distributer. I did use all of the Celica parts on the Camry motor;(intake, exhaust, ps, alternator, flywheel and motor mounts) The only problem I ran into was with the passenger side CV axle support bearing that bolts to the engine. On the Celica block there was 2 holes for the bearing that the Camry did not have tapped out. I looked at swapping the bearing mount over from the Camry but it would not work, so i just made a bracket out of 1/4 inch plate to use the Celica support on the Camry block. If i would have caught it out of the car i would have tapped the bolt holes out. Hope this helps someone looking for any answers.
