Just wondering

Good evening I'm Ra... glad to find a forum that can offer some help. I am the owner of '77' Toyota Celica 4 cylinder. There are not many places that will even touch my ride. So, I have taken on the challenge to handle my repairs. Right now I have moved to a very cold climate and my alternate just died. I need to know where I can find a reasonable new alternator. This is the original... not many parts in my car have ever been replaced before - except for hose replacements. I have lost my service manual and having a hard time locating another service manual for my ride. Please help!

:facepalm... ra

There are a few forums dedicated to the older celicas like classic-celica.com, sadly most on this forum have more experience with the 86+ models so you may find a little more general help over there.

Luckily the engine in your celica is a 20R, the R series engines became very common later (the 22R in pickups, but is very similar to the 20r), so parts should have relatively good availability, although for most parts you may have to wait a day or two for stores to receive.

As for the alternator, I am checking this from work actually (I am a commercial sales manager from an advance auto), I found a listing for a rebuilt one for $30 in our system, but depending on the stores you have locally or which ever store you prefer to go to you should be able to find one in the $30-$50 range.

For the service manual, check ebay, or you may still be able to get one through your local dealer.

I hope this helps.
