4th Generation 1986 Toyota Celica GT 2SE

the transmission is very loose and i want to put in a new one but I want a little higher gear ratios for the high end to drop the rpm at around 80-85 mph. Problem is I cant seem to find the info I need on the transmissions. Can someone help me?

Very loose? what exactly do you mean by that?

Also, are you looking for a manual or auto trans?

Essentially any transmission used with a FWD S series engine will work (the one from the mr2 would work as well but the shift linkages aren't in the same spot so they have to be flipped).

The transmissions that came with the later 5SFEs had a slightly higher gear ratio in 5th gear, but it won't noticably drop the RPM, at 80-85 you'd probably still be around 3500RPM.
