What is the engine code on a 1986 Celica??

What engines came in this model year?? cuss i found one with a 2.0 16v twincam nd i just wanted to know if this is itz og engine??

Well in that model year there are two possibilities.

2S-E only used for 1986 in the Celica ST and GT models

or

3SGE used in all of 86-89 celica GTS


Double check the model year, the very next year the 2S-E was replaced by the 3SFE and is much more common.

well i found this car in the classified ads nd thats the year it says soo...thats y i gave a description of the engine to c if itz one of the engines that u described above..

Well the description could be applied to both. I'm not quite sure if the 2SE is DOHC, it may only be SOHC. BUT, there is a definite chance it is a 1987 model year (late 86), which could make it a 3SFE which is DOHC.

Honestly your best bet is finding out which model it is (ST, GT, GTS) or if they have a picture of the engine in the ad, post that and I'd be able to tell you which engine it is, or find out the VIN from the seller.
