some jumped my battery wrong and I need advice quick
my battery was jumped wrong, the fuses were all burt, put new fuses, the airbag lite and clock stayed on run down my battery, the garage says the computer is burnt out,and wiring, does a 1990 celica have a computer? and what does it cost to get this all repaired, before this happened the car was a great car. please any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much, dont know how to use this forum. but really need help.Im a woman and my car was such a great little car, until this happened, I cannot believe that a young man could jump a car backwards in broad daylight. The garage is who said it was my wiring and computer, dont even know if they are telling me the truth. What would the symptoms be if they are correct? It only has 116 thousand miles on it,and run like a charm because I had taken such good care of it. Do you think that it could be anything else? something less costly? I appreciate any and all help and advice that you or anyone on this forum can give me. Just dont want a garage to take advantage of me being a woman. Thank you so much
It would make sense that the computer is fried. Honestly before replacing the whole wiring harness, which is very time consuming, I would just replace the computer in the chance that the wiring is still ok.
It may be worth getting a second opinion on this though. Being in the industry, sadly, I do see many women taken advantage of.
The computer may still be ok. The fusible links are suppose to protect the ecu from being fried in cases like these. I would get a second opinion from someone you can trust.

It was not the computer or harness, you were right it was the ignition, but it also blew my radio and speakers, please advise me on what kind of speakers I will need for the 90 celica? Just had a pioneer radio installed. Thanks in advance for your help. Im so Blessed that it was not the computer. Running like a charm, love my Celica. Only one problem left besides the speakers, the air bag light goes on when I stsrt, but goes off when I turn the car off ??

As far as speakers, are you able to see what the diameter of them are? EG:, 5 1/2", 6"... Just go to Walmart or Best Buy and replace them with the same size.
As for the airbag light, try disconnecting the battery terminals and remove the ECU fuse for 1 minute. Put the fuse back in and reconnect battery.
That may or may not clear the light. Worth a try.

Thanks so much I will try that for the airbag lite, are you sure about walmart speakers? I think the back speakers are 6.5 unsure bout the front. I thought that celicas had some kind of special speakers that I have to get?
As long as the speakers are the same diameter, they will work.
You can also go to Best Buy and the will install the correct speakers for you.
They don't have to come from Toyota.

Thank you sooo much for all of your help, And Im so glad you were right about the computer and wiring, But I had to have a man take it in for me, thats when thay said it was not the computer , They told me that it was..... wow, The advantages they take of innocent women in a garage is mind boggling.
Thanks again so much
I find it very unlikely that hooking up jumper cables wrong would blow speakers. The head unit and any amps maybe. Chances are if something happened to the speakers you would still be hearing sound from them even if it was distorted or garbled. If your stereo is not working check the fuses. If it is an after market stereo check for the existence of a fuse on the back of the unit or in the wiring leading to it.
It is very unusual to need to replace the speakers after something like this.
Thank you, well it was best buy who said they were blown, I can get sound
out of two, but there is no sound at all in the others. The radio that was
original equipment was fried, it would come on for a few seconds them start
going on and off ,repeatedly. I don't trust many people about my car, but
people who know Toyotas like you at Toyota nation know the real low down
and are honest, and do I ever appreciate you.; I had no amps , just the
radio and speakers that came on the car when it was new. Are there fuses
that are not in the fuse box? if so where do I locate them. The two speakers
that have sound do not sound good. This is so frustrating for me. What do
you advise?

The back speakers are 6.5 as a woman Im sorry I cannot tell the size of the speakers in the front doors

If there is a fault in the Airbag System, the light will go on and stay on and a microprocessor in the center airbag sensor assembly will store fault codes indicating the nature of the fault. If the airbag light goes on and stays on as you stated, the vehicle should be taken to your local dealer immediately for service. It's just a matter of re-setting some fault codes and shouldn't cost too much. Your safety is more important than getting the right speakers for your stereo right now.
