gen 7 No heat after getting car back

Before I took my car into get fixed for some engine noise I used the heat one night and it worked perfect, had to turn it off after awhile because it got too hot.

It got the serpentine belt tensioner, serpentine belt, timing chain tensioner, and valve cover gasket replaced. I tried to use the heat on a cold night tonight and its cold when it idles, and only gets nuke-warm when the rpms get to 2500+. Could this possibly be he didn't burp the coolant system good enough? Thanks

2000 Celica GT

Yes it can be, the 2000+ celicas have a problem with getting air trapped in the system. I believe over on newcelica.org there is a guide for bleeding the cooling system that supposedly works very well.

Yeah I saw that bleeding guide, only problem is people are having trouble trying to figure out where the steps are as they aren't on the first page. The post on the second page is a write-up for coolant replacement. Thinking about taking it somewhere to get it done as I don't have concrete steps to do this.

I don't see where the work they did requires draining the coolant system though.
Does the radiator have to be removed to perform that work?
I thought that Celica was Front Wheel Drive?

Yeah its front wheel drive, I just heard people talk about having no heat after replacing the valve cover gasket(dont know why) and then having to bleed the coolant system. They didn't have to drain the coolant, I'm just finding it odd I don't have heat after I get the car back, and he doesn't think he did it so i'm stuck with trying to figure it out myself or spending more money on someone to try and figure it out.

Radiator doesn't have to be removed.

This is where I got the idea about it being a coolant problem. I know it's not a toyota but he changed the valve cover gasket and someone reminded him he needed to burp the coolant and top it off.

Maybe they accidently did something. I would at least check the linkage that opens and shuts the heater core.

Heat started working, I guess I just got paranoid. I guess I expected the heat to work as soon as it got to operating temperature. Took it and got an oil change today and after awhile turned on the heat and it was burning me out even at a stand still.

Guess I just need to be a little more patient and let it warm up a little more. I still might look into servicing it before winter comes around again. Til then i'll figure out why I had a slight knocking noise only when the car is in drive or reverse. Not sure if I can even hear it when the car is warmed up. I'm going to listen to it some more tonight. Thanks for the help.
