Bad fuel pump

I was wondering, Would a car just die while driving down the highway if the fuel pump goes out?

The rpm's just dropped to 0 and I cant get the car to start, cranks but no go. I have replace the igniter, coil, and just did the cap and rotor, the distributer resistance is good.

I have just never had a bad fuel pump and was wondering if it did go bad would something like the scenario above occur?

yes. Have someone turn the key to the ON position, listen through the filler cap, you should hear the pump kick on. Or, test for voltage going to the pump.

Also, did you check your timing belt? you never addressed that in your other thread.

I think I will do a voltage / resistance test, as I dont have anyone to turn the key for me.

I just wanted to make sure that it was even a possibility before I took out the back seat.
