4th Generation 2x Gen 4 Celicas, Engine and Tranny swap

Hi all, just registered

I have at the moment a Manual 1987 Toyota Celica ST162 with horribly saggy suspension, a very oxidised and faded paint job and some rust holes in the doors and various other minor problems. In a couple of days I'll be in possession of a newer 1989 Gen 4 with automatic transmission, a much better condition body, better suspension and a blown head gasket.

What I'd like to know is how easy would it be to swap the good engine and manual tranny from the old one into the new automatic one? I'm fine with mechanical work but not fabrication or drilling holes. I know I'll have to swap most of the wiring and ECU out, but is there holes in the firewall to put the clutch pedal and cables? I can swap pretty much anything from my old Celica to my new one.

Thanks,
Aaron.

There should be all the holes in the fire wall for the clutch master, wiring and brackets on the inside to hold the clutch pedal and return spring.

Thanks Jedi.

I rekon for the moment I'll just swap over the engines and leave the automatic tranny in and when I get the time I'll swap the ECU and tranny over and all the other bits that it needs for manual transmission.
