USA idle issues

hey all, when I turn the A/C on in my 1994 celica gt 2.2 engine the idle drops and will die, any ideas?

My engine doesn't die but mine is doing the same thing as far as engine idle not increasing. Was at mechanic yesterday and mine is the (sorry don't remember the exact name) ac idle up sensor? Something like that. Looking at the left side of the intake manifold there is a bracket that holds it on. It has 2 hoses coming out of the bottom, an electrical connector and a adjustable screw to adjust the idle.

I would try adjusting that idle screw first but if you're rpms aren't changing at all then it's probably bad. I'm no pro so that's just a guess but that's where I would start.

I agree. Adjust the idler screw in the engine bay. Is you idle normal when you have it running? Does turning on lights drop idle speed too?

There can be a number of factors: too much refrigerant shoots idle speeds up way high (forcing the engine to work harder); your a/c idle needs adjusting; or you need a better alternator because it isnt providing enough power to keep the engine going with the additional supply to the a/c.
