Opening locked Celica hood(cable broken)

I recently had the latch release cable break. Did a lot of research but found nothing productive on getting the hood open.
Here is how it can be done.(Series 7 Celica-2000-2005))
Run car up a ramp or somehow get it elevated safely. Remove the plastic from under the engine. Get a light and a longish screwdriver and get your head under the transmission. Look up past the left fan motor and you will see the latch way up at the top. The release tab is just to the left of the metal mounting bracket. Get the tip of the screwdriver into the slot on the tab and pry it to the left. THAT should release the hood. It did for me and I tried it again, just to be sure. Probably a 45 minute job by the time you reinstall the plastic.
Getting a new release cable in is another story.
Hope this helps someone.

Dealer will have the cable, probably special order. Make sure you take the latch off and thoroughly clean and lubricate it or just replace it if its seized up. Installing the cable isn't fun if you've never done one before.
