Gen5 90 Celica GT turbo upgrade help

Hey all, I want a legit turbo upgrade done to my Celica. I'm not too new to the whole turbo aspect but I am not to my celica. Also a must since I live in Cali after the whole process is done I have to pass smog =/.

I know:
where to get the basics for turbo like an junky ebay kit. What I don't know is what all is completely needed to do this upgrade like specific parts:ecu, tune, smog referee approval, things like that down to the last detailed part.

Soo heres the main question. Can I take parts from a salvaged Alltrac and its turbo parts and custom fit it to mine? What kinda problems might I run into?

Thanks for reading

I'm not sure what all is involved with smog regulations but best bet would likely be a swap to a stock 3SGTE.

Agreed. If you swap in the whole drivetrain (engine and trans, really, so you'll need a t-case blockoff from an MR02) then you can pass smog in Cali with any engine in any vehicle... So if you stick the 3SGTE and I think E153 (? Not sure on trans number. I should be, I have a Camry All-Trac) trans, you will pass smog. Just get all the wiring, complete computer, everything from the donor vehicle and it would be best to have a professional shop do the wiring work.

Is that cheaper than an upgrade?? and I've also been thinking about a swap I just have no clue where I'd find and engine for a good price and didn't all salvage yards in California pours glass into the motors in older cars for some kinda reason??

No, not a full good quality engine/tranny/ecu swap but you're in Cali, so you'll never be smog legal with a turbo kit on a 5S-FE.

Cash for Clunkers (formally known as CARS - Car Allowance Rebate System) was a $3 billion U.S. federal scrap program intended to provide economic incentives to US residents when trading in older, less fuel-efficient vehicles on new fuel-efficient vehicles. ...and it was sodium silicate (basically fine sand) they poured into the block after removing the oil to ensure dealers could not resell the cars. The engine was run until the silicate abraded the motor, heated up and turned to glass seizing the internal components.
