Gen6 Help !!!!!!!!!! Lug nuts

Okay every one, so heres the deal...I put a set of GTS wheels on my celica. but I ran into an isue with the lug nuts. I didnt have any of the shank style lugs and the parts stores didnt have them either. So I ended up using the acorn lugs (Even though its a big nono) because i needed to get the car home. My question is how safe u think those lugs will hold until i get the right ones, I torqued the wheels all to 80lbs and i only drive like 20 mi a day total....Has any one ever ran the acrorn nuts on the mags.....Let me know guys, ide appriciate the piece of mind, lol

This doesn't pertain to toyota's but is same danger. I have a 98 eclipse gsx that I fit bad lugs on one came loose and the others soon after, my point is my tires shot off at 60 I slid for a good distance. Found my lugs than never left the inside of my rim cover and slapped them on..... and crawled home. No damage was done to the car which I personally found crazy, and I would have killed someone or myself if I didn't live in a rural area at the time. Oh and my tire tire "as I watched in slowmo" shot off that the same speed and smashed through a neighbors fence after ramping the curb.

Just drive careful, keep an eye on them, and it wouldn't hurt to re-torque the wheels again. And change out those lug nuts soon!!!!

Any decent tire shop should be able to sell you the current lug nuts.
And wrecking yards often have a bin full of them - be careful to get the correct thread pitch.
