Hey Zen.
I moved your thread here to the Celica section. You'll get alot more info here than the intro section.
Was there scoring on the cylinder walls? Have you measured cylinder bore .
Welcome to TNation.

thank you... i didnt think there were celica specific sections.. noob.. lols, anyways, no there is no scoring on the walls. cylinders were measured and the they are 85.8mm. this is relatively close to the stock 86mm bore. im debating wether i should fit it with oversized pistons or not. what are some of the advantages with oversized pistons? drop compression? i heard that the thinner the walls goes, the walls are going to be hotter than normal. nice sw20 btw. my little brother has a red sw20 also. love that car to death.. fun little car to be driving especially taking corners in it. it just huggs all the way through...

Compression will be slightly lower with a bore, but you can compensate with a thinner headgasket. Though lower compression is more turbo friendly.
I'm bored .040 over and run 9.0/1 compression ratio. No heating issues whatsoever.

thanks blue,
the front end is going to cost you a pretty penny. i paid $240 for this one brand new from toyota with a friend of mine's employee discount and this didn't include the crash bar, grill inserts, mounting clips, etc. i didnt think that toyota could get them anymore, but the friend looked it up and was able to get them. he said they were shipped from washington and that there was only 4 left in stock. just recently, on alltrac.net, there was romur saying that toyota was stopping all production of older parts. i don't know if this is true, but i did go back to him for a TRD metal headgasket for the my brothers sw20 and he wasn't able to get it anymore. i had gotten this headgasket from him before too for $65.

jedi, your bored .04 over so you must be running 87mm pistons? what brand pistons are they? cp, arias, je, wieseco? any recommendations on pistons? im pretty set on buying eagle h beam rods. how bout bearings? heard acl are good, but read some bad reviews on them. i was recommended to get oem toyota bearings or king bearings.

I'm using ACLs. I've got 13K miles on this motor since the build. No problems.
Using JE forged pistons, but still using stock rods. JE and Wiseco are both great brands.
Follow my Cardomain link to see my 3sgte set up.
