Backup lights

I just started working swing shift and noticed that my backup lights and fog lights are both non functional. I'm not too concerned about the fog lights but the backup lights are a concern. I have to back my car into a small parking spot at my house and I need to have those lights working so I dont put the car in my yard by accident.
I checked the bulbs and they're both good, pulled the fuse under the dash and it's also good. I've heard mention of a reverse switch for models with a manual trans. What's the story with that? My repair manual got packed up with a bunch of other stuff and I can't find it right now.
