Replacing speakers in front doors

Hello. I need to replace the speakers in my 95 Celica GT. It has 3 speakers on each side, and right now the only ones that are giving me any trouble are the woofers, but figure I might as well replace them all while I have the door panels off as they are all original. How tough is it to pop the clips on the panels, and if there is anything specific you may have done that made it easier. Also, any advice on speakers to use, and if I should just go ahead and also replce the head unit, (sounds good though), while I am at it. It is also the original factory radio. Thanks.

i always use a manual, i.e. haynes, chilton, alldata, etc. especially when it comes to the cabin interior because a lot of the fasteners are deliberately hidden for cosmetic reasons, and if you don't know where they are, you are liable to break one of them.

when it comes to speakers, the best advice i can give (since i so happens i am also actually an internationally distributed music producer and audio engineer) is to bring a few albums you know well and you think sound fantastic to a store with a large inventory of speakers and amps that are hooked up for listening. listen to them all and choose the 3 or so that sound best in your price range. then compare them back to back, listening as you switch from one to the other as quickly as possible.

you will probably need to choose speakers first, then amps this way. then double check you speaker choice based on the amp you selected.

It is pretty shocking the differences you will hear in quality.

some heads have amps in them, and others need a separate amp
