90-93 Celica Air Intake???

the plastic hose on my stock air intake is cracking..... I am thinking of installing an K&N CONE intake.

I am wondering what the purpose of the bubble attached after the stock air box???

After replacing my K&N drop in filter with a K&N cone...I have noticed a fairly noticable difference in power.....

The only problem is my car idles now between 1000-2000 rpm

What could have caused this?????

mine did the same thing...and all that i did was clean the old plugs and change the air filter and reseted the ECU...i ve tried reseting the computer again after but with no effect. when i first start it up it goes as high as 2100 rpm and then drops to about 1300 i dont want to just turn the idle down because i think it would be a problem somewhere else and i would like to fix it properly, the idle use to be fine.

My 91 gt did that aswell. But you also have to look at it like this. Your oem intake was sucking air from the fender and behind the headlight. Now it sucks it from the engine bay which gets nasty hot, really fast. So yeah, your gas mileage will hit the floor and the car may seem groggy. Mine hits 1200 rpm on start up and idles at 800.

Actually it would be your throttle position sensor, or more likely the idle speed control sensor located on the t/b under the throttle plate. Take the entire sensor off, and leave the harness
hanging and see what difference that makes at startup.
I had a similar problem, removed it, now the car starts at about only 1400 RPM and drops back 1000 (1000 keeps the body from shaking for me).
You can test the contacts on the ISC sensor to see what the resistance is at. For a '91 5sfe it is like 19.2~23.0. somewhere in that range.
Try cleaning the throttle body throughly as well. You may have a sticking plate.
