distributor mounting bolt length

hey, how long should the bolts be that mount the distributor to the (non-california) 5sfe? I'm putting my car back together (finally) and the only bolts from my pile that fit are one that is too long, and two that are only a couple threads longer than the width of the distributor flange. simplest conclusion is that the latter are the bolts that were there, but does that seem right?

I don't know the spec, but I would believe that the bolts should at least be 1/4 inch longer than the flange is wide in order to secure it correctly. Any chance "those" bolts got used somewhere else by mistake?

damn. i dunno. the garage is kind of a mess despite my best retroactive organizational efforts. I thought I had all the bolts accounted for, but I don't see a better match length anywhere. and at the moment i can't think of anything else that I need to reinstall that takes M8 bolts (which is what I think this size is). I wish there were somewhere i could find all the bolt specs for the vehicle.

you know, they might be about a 1/4 inch longer, but no longer than that. the holes go much deeper

just fiddled with it some more. the two shorter bolts actually hold the throttle and kick down cables to the throttle body.

do you guys have cap screws or flange bolts on the dizzy, or one of each?

update:

went to ace hardware and picked up some class 8.8 M8x1.25x30mm cap screws and washers. perfect fit and i think less likely to throw the timing off as i tighten them.
