hot to intall timing belt side engine mount

i got the top timing cover installed, but now i can't get the engine mount in to place from either above or below. is there a special trick? don't tell me i have to take the cover off again or i'll kill myself.

I remember it being quite difficult but I never had to remove anything, at least that I remember. I know for sure that I did not remove the timing cover to install.

IIRC I slipped it in sideways from the front (as in pushing it from the front of the car towards the back of the car, moving perpendicular to the orientation of the engine, into place)
