Is the floorpan the same on the GTS and Alltrac Celicas (4th gen).
Like, will the GTS support rear wheel drive,or when you guys do the 3SGE to 3SGTE swaps,do you leave the car front wheel drive or make it rear wheel drive?
the basic car is the same. if you had an all trac, you could swap the awd components over...of course there is more than suspension...it can be done though

so what you're saying is if I WANTED to,for whatever reason,I would be able to take a complete Alltrac motor, tranny, driveshaft, diff and suspension and pretty much bolt up up to a standard GTS shell and floorpan?
cool. yeah, the car I am getting it a hatch. My previous GTS was a coupe. I was considering putting a rotary engine into it with an RX7 transmission, and mating it to an Alltrac driveshaft and Alltrac rearend.
Now,I am getting this hatch and posibly thinking of getting a 3SGTE for it. Thanks for the info man!
not sure... i just know that the all trac only came in the hatch. id have to get under my junker to see if there is any. im sure the wheel base is the same, but i dont know about the rest of it.

I dont know about the 4th Gen ST16X, but on 5th and 6th gen cars the floor pans ARE different.
The front pan has a bigger tranny "mound" that gives the extra space for the transffer case and the rear pan is lower to house the fuel tank that is mounted in a different possition than in the GT-S, this is to accomodate the rear trasmission (axle and diff).
So an educated guess would be that the ST16X floor pans should also be different.

whaaaaa? I'm a noob here, but I've been a paticipant on celica.net and alltrac.net for quite awhile and I've always heard that the routing for the drive shaft won't work without a lot of fabrication work. You're better off driving down to the states to buy an alltrac, they're for sale every so often on alltrac.net and ebay. I've never looked under a GTS but I own an All-Trac and there's a heap of gear to change over, not worth the time or money. For that much money you could probably buy a WRX STi - lol

We get the Alltracs up here. Right now there are like 4 for sale in Ontario right now on Autotrader. Cheapest one is $1600 and it needs a motor. There's another one for $1800,but it needs a starter, and to do that, you need to take off the exhaust manifold.
Anyways,I'm playing with the idea of going 3SGTE in my GTS sometime.

For a whole swap to make your GTS into an AllTrac, it Will Not be a bolt on. If it was, everyone would've done it by now.
Even when doing a engine swap, you're still gonna have to do some extra things. Thats why everyone says its much easier doing a 3sge NA swap than that of the turbo. But if you're turning your car into an AllTrac, be ready to get frustrated. It can be done, but with too much work.
You are better off just buying an AllTrac and selling your GTS. If you wanna be different though, do it and be different. You'll get props for that.
