well i thought i found a sweet deal on my 1990 celica gts. Now im finding a bunch of rust in the unibody. So im wondering if i should part it out or get the engine back in the car and sell it.
What do you guys think i should do. I could take pictures if needed.
ive only checked out the back and took out the carpet and didnt see any spot rusted through. That then piece of metal where you put the jack that came with the car has almost rusted a good section off too
IMO, long term the car is no good. Rust in the seams is impossible to get rid of [practicality here, you're not going to spend 10g to remove everything, clean, reseal and weld in new parts].
The car is probably still driveable, I'd put the engine back in and drive it til it dies.
Then part it out.

thank you for the advice, i might try to part it out first see if i can make back the money that was put into it. Unless you think i could get more out of the car put back together and running.
Oh wow! That is definitely a lot of rust from what appears in the pictures. Looks like you can drive it for the time being, but over the next few years, it will not hold up.
Problem with rust is, if it starts once, it never stops then.

Pretty typical for a Northern car. The only way to fix that rust is to cut it out and weld in new metal. It can be done, but it's not the easiest job.
yes but all the brake lines need to be replaced, a window regulator, windshield, front bumper is scratched up. Its just seeming like a bigger and bigger money pit. So im wondering if i should just throw the motor back in it or part it out and try to get the money i put into it back.
