Gen5 2nd gen 3sgte smoking on high boost

hey all,

i have a 2nd gen 3sgte smoking on high boost, not on idle and not on normal driving.
could it be my CT26 turbo leaking? or head gasket? there is some oil residue on the compressor inlet. any info would greatly be appreciated!

by the way it's a blue smoke

thanks,
Drucker

The residue is probably from the PCV system.
You can pull your down pipe and check for oil there [means leaking turbo seals], but it's easier to check your plugs first and check for oil.

Theres a good chance the oil seal in the turbo is on it's way out. Pull the intake pipe off the inlet side of the turbo and see if there's excessive oil in the pipe and turbo.
The 3sgte has PCV, but no valve. And ususally, if the tube is clogged, it would smoke at idle.
I would also do as suggested above and pull the plugs and check their condition.
I would also do a compression test.Let us know what you find.

ok I will check the plugs and the inlet to turbo, like I said it does NOT smoke at idle nor driving normal but only on boosting you see a quick cloud of blue smoke. You can even smell it inside the car too.

Yeah, blue smoke is oil.
How many miles on it?. The CT26 uses a float bearing, making it very important to keep clean oil in it. Not to mention 100,000's of RMP's and high heat temps.
The seal in my original CT26 gave out, dumping a ton of oil into the cumbustion chamber, blowing the headgasket and cracking the #3 piston top.
