USA please help. i cant get my rear axle out!

hi im new to the site but i bought an 84 celica gt it has a solid axle and its gone. i cant get the thing apart. i took apart the brakes took the four nuts off that held the cover on. took all the 3rd member bolts/nuts off. i cant pull the axles out....or more i dont know how to get them out. my first rwd toyota. i know they have to come off before the 3rd member comes out thats about it. if anyone could help that would be amazing. thanks.

Remove the disc or drum. Mount an old drum backwards (ie pointing out) on the axle shaft.
Hit the drum with a large hammer from behind with modest blows.
Alternate the blows to each side of the axle (hitting the drum but left/right of the axle) to avoid sideways stress on the axle bearings.
Should pop out after about 3 or 4 blows.
