celica convertible 3sgte ?

Hi.
I have a celica convertible 1993. and i would like to know if its possible to fit in the 3sgte engine with the camry v6 transmition. i have seen this done in coupes, but never convertible. also toyota did not make the convertible all track. are there any issues that make this not possible ?
My m5sfe has 250 000 miles and still runs great, but is lacking power. probably due to worn piston rings. and a 3sgte kit costs less than a 5sfe rebuild.

Bolts in exactly the same as a coupe/hatch.
As far as the engine stuff goes the convertible is the same.

So i guess toyota did not make it because the price would be too high. a celica all track was 32000$, so a convertible all track wouldbe about 35000$ i guess. remember that was in 1993 cars were a lot less expensive.
I hope everything fits well.
and the camry v6 tranny fits easily on the 3sgte, and i use the stock celica driveshafts or the 3sgte front driveshafts ?

Also the alltrac was the road going version of Toyota's rally car so it is actually much more structurally rigid than a normal hatchback celica, let alone a convertible which is far less rigid than the normal celica. The alltrac is very heavy, so combine that with the extra weight of it potentially being a convertible, you'd wind up with a car probably weighing well over two tons.

yeah, very heavy. but the convertible is so much fun. press a button and feel the sun on your head as you roll down the highway. the wind in my ...oh yeah, i have no hair left... but you get the idea.
the convertible is still very rigid, i was suprised. but probably not comparable to a coupe. anyways, right now its in the garage untill spring i will be drivin a camry 5sfe, very confortable granny car...

The drive shaft for the rear wheels would've gotten in the way of the extra body support the vert got over the coupe/leftback. Also the way the gas tank is mounted on the All-Trac would not allow the top to be lowered. Hence why four drive vert cars are mostly 2 seaters and not four or with a very small to zero trunk space.

Yeah thats what i thought, too bad an all track convertible would have been a lot of fun. but the 3sgte can be installed with the v6 transmition from a camry right ?
if yes, you know wich driveshafts i take (the celica ?)

The V6 Camery transmission will work. As for which year transmission and drive shaft, im not sure. You might want to do some research on www.alltrac.net more people there would know about the swap. THe 5s-FE trans will work but for how long Im not sure. I have seen a couple with rebuilt trans running a stock 3s-gte just fine for 2+ years with no issues as of yet.

do it once, do it right. id rather look for a v6 tranny and have no issues, espiacally since i will rebuild the 3sgte before i put it in (pistons, valves, belt...). so i might as well put in a tranny that will handle the power and a good clutch kit.
ill do the research about the camry v6 tranny and see where i go from there.
